Download messages to analyse them in a spreadsheet or to send them to support. The app builds a CSV file in the background and saves it when it is ready.
¶ Before you start
- You need Units with Read and Show Messages, and Devices with Read. No extra export permission is needed.
- Run the query you want to download first. See Inspect a unit's raw messages.
¶ Start the download

On the Messages screen, choose the unit, period and Message Type.

Select Execute.
The summary figures appear over the map. -
Select Download, marked 3.
The app starts building the file.
¶ Follow progress
While the file is built, the Download button shows a spinner. The task also appears on the Tasks tab of the notification bell. See Notifications and background tasks.
¶ Get the file
- If you stay on the Messages screen, the browser saves the file when it is ready. The name starts with
DeviceMessages_. - If you leave the screen, the task carries on in the background. Open the bell's Tasks tab to follow it and save the file.
The file stays available for one hour.
¶ What the file contains
One row per message, with these columns: Message ID, Message Time, Latitude, Longitude, Speed, Altitude, Ext Voltage, Course and Satellites. Then Params for a Raw query, or one column per sensor for a Sensor query.
Message Time is in UTC, not in your account's time zone. The file has no address, processed date, fix source or accuracy columns.
¶ Limits
- One query downloads at most 1,000,000 messages.
- If the file is not ready after two minutes, the screen shows "CSV generation timed out. Please try again." Choose a shorter period and try again.
