A schedule says when units should reach each checkpoint of a route and which units run it. A ride is one recorded run of a unit along a schedule. Polygon compares each ride with its schedule and labels it on time, late or missed.
Schedules belong to a route, not to a checkpoint, and you can give a route several, such as a weekday and a weekend timetable. Each schedule has its own units. You manage them under the route in the Routes tab. See Schedule a route.
| Type | The times mean | Reuse |
|---|---|---|
| Daily time | Clock times of day. | Any day, at most once per day. |
| From activation | Time elapsed since the ride is activated, written hh:mm. The first checkpoint is usually +00:00. | Any time, as often as you like. |
| Fixed date | An exact date and time per checkpoint. | Once, inside the Active From and Active To window. |
Checkpoint Order decides which visits count:
Each checkpoint has an arrival time and a tolerance in minutes. A unit that arrives up to the tolerance after the arrival time is on time. Arriving early is not late. Optionally a checkpoint has a departure time and tolerance too, but the ride's overall status looks at arrivals only.
Expiration time ends a ride that stays open too long. For a Fixed date schedule it also marks the schedule Expired that long after Active From, or at Active To if that comes first. A schedule list shows the badges Scheduled, before Active From, and Expired.
A ride opens when a unit enters the first checkpoint, or leaves it if the unit was already there. It ends when the unit reaches the last checkpoint, or when the expiration time passes. Turn on Automatically create rides to record rides live. With it off, the live detector records none for the schedule.
The Time, Days, Days of the week and Months filters of the schedule do not stop a ride from being recorded. They decide which rides the rides explorer and the reports show.
| Status | Applies to | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| On schedule | Ride | Every arrival was within its tolerance. |
| Late | Ride, checkpoint | At least one arrival was later than arrival time plus tolerance. The explorer shows how much. |
| Incomplete | Ride | The ride ended on expiration before the last checkpoint. |
| On time | Checkpoint | The unit arrived within the window. |
| Pending | Checkpoint | The ride is still open and has not reached it yet. |
| Missed | Checkpoint | The ride ended and the unit never entered it. |
