Devices or units? The file registers devices, the tracking hardware. A unit is created only if you turn on Create unit for each device in the wizard. For the steps, see Import devices.
The device import reads one device per row of a CSV file. This page lists the columns and the limits the app applies to each cell.
In the import wizard, on Model & Options, select Download Template. The file has the header row and one example row. The app writes it in UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so a spreadsheet program opens it correctly. Required columns carry an asterisk in the header.
The example row reads: Truck 12, North, 1.0, 9876543210, Jio, two empty SIM cells, 356938035643809, fleet-a|north and an empty password. Replace it with your own data.

Before it creates anything, the app checks every row against the server and shows a result per row. A row fails for these reasons:

| "{field} may not contain spaces or control characters" | The identifier has a space. |
| "{field} {value} is already used by row {row} of this file" | The identifier repeats in the file. |
| "{field} {value} already exists in the system" | A device with that identifier exists on the server, in any account. |
| "{field} must be 6 to 15 digits and may not start with 0" | A SIM number is badly formed. |
| "SIM number {value} is already assigned to another device" | The SIM is fitted to another device. |
| "SIM number {value} appears more than once in this file" | Two rows use the same SIM. |
| "A unit named {value} already exists, so no unit was created" | The device is created without a unit. |
Fix the rows in the file and upload it again.
