Chat lets you write to the driver of a unit without leaving the map, and read what the driver sends back. Each unit has one conversation. A message reaches the driver through the device, the driver's app or a linked messenger, and the chat shows how far it got.
You can also select Chat on the unit card, or the unread count next to a unit's name in the list.
The conversation shows the messages to and from the unit, oldest at the top. Scroll up to load older messages. When there are none left, the top reads "Start of the conversation". A unit with no messages yet shows "No messages yet".
Enter.Shift+Enter for a new line instead. If the message could not be sent, it shows "Could not send the message." and Send again.
Under each message you sent, ticks show how far it got: queued, sent, delivered to the device, and seen by the driver. "via" and a channel name say how it travelled, such as SMS or Telegram. Select the ticks to see Delivery details, with each attempt. A failed attempt can show Retry.
When the device only sends, the view says "The device only sends; your replies go through the linked messenger or SMS." If your role can read but not reply, the view says so in place of the message box.
Quick replies are saved texts above the message box. Select one to put its text in the message. Everyone in the account shares them.
Turn on Driver reply button to offer a reply to the driver instead. Telegram and MAX show these as buttons the driver can tap.
The Chat button on the scope bar, the message icon, opens every conversation of the account, with unread ones first. Its number counts the units with unread messages.
Each unit gets the message in its own conversation. Select Open chat on a row to open it. While some messages wait, you can select Cancel and the number pending to stop them. Select New message to write another one.
When the app cannot reach the driver, messages can also go to the driver's Telegram or MAX, or by SMS. The account decides which of these it offers.
Select Refresh status to check a link. Select Unlink to remove one. SMS needs no link: it uses the SIM number of the device or the phone number of the assigned driver. SMS is one-way, so the driver cannot reply to it.
You can also choose Chat links in the unit menu.
When a driver writes, the unread counts on the scope bar, the unit row and the unit card go up. With the Live chat overlay on, new messages also pop up over the map. Turn it on or off under Layers. See Account scope, labels and layers.
The driver sees your message in the app, on the device or in the messenger. Replies appear in the conversation as they arrive, and the ticks move on as the message is delivered and seen.
