Devices or units? This page is about devices, the tracking hardware installed in a vehicle or on an asset. For the vehicles and assets on the map, see Units. For the difference, see Devices and units.
Clone a device when you install another device of the same kind. The new device starts with the model, settings, sensors and commands of the one you copy, so you only enter what must differ.
You can also open the device with Edit or View and select Clone at the top of the screen.
The wizard copies Manufacturer, Model, firmware version, Status, Time Zone and the device's groups. It leaves these fields empty, because each device needs its own:
Create unit for the device starts off, whatever the source had.
Once the new device exists, the app copies these from the source device:
The tabs of the new device show the copied values. Trip Detector and Fuel Config appear if the copied sensors include a GPS or fuel sensor.
If part of the copy fails, the message "Some settings could not be copied from the source device" appears. The device still exists. Open its tabs and set the missing parts by hand.
The new device is a separate record. Later changes to the source do not reach it. Go through the remaining wizard steps as in Add a device, then allocate the device to a unit.
