This page is about units, the vehicles and assets on the map. To set up the tracking hardware inside one, see Devices.
On Tracking, you see one of these:
The map shows only the units whose checkbox is on in the unit list. When you open the map, no unit is plotted, so the map starts empty. Clearing a checkbox, selecting None, or using Plot only selected also takes units off the map. They stay in the list.

Fix
The map shows the units of the accounts chosen in Account scope. A dealer account opens on its own account, which owns no units, so its map starts empty.

Fix
A status button such as Offline, a label, or text in the search box narrows the list and the map. If nothing matches, the list reads "No units match these filters".
Fix
The list filter looks in unit, driver, account and label names. The Places tab of the search results finds addresses, but it moves the map; it does not filter the list.
A unit without a position has no marker. Its card says "No position yet", and Follow is unavailable.
Fix
Follow A unit is offline, sends no messages, or a new device does not connect. The usual causes are a device that is not on the unit, or one that has never connected.
The dealer may move the unit to another account, or end your allocation. The unit then no longer appears in the unit list or on the map. A unit that was allocated to your account again shows as usual.
Fix
A fix from too few satellites, or with a high HDOP, can put the unit hundreds of metres away, or make it jump. The device's Position filter tab tests every position. On most platforms it only marks a failed position as rejected: the map, trips and reports still use it. On a platform that runs strict filtering, the app replaces a failed position with the last good one.
Check
Fix
The tab applies to new messages only. Median and Kalman raw-data filters on older or imported devices are not applied at all. For jumps inside trips, see Allow GPS Correction in How trips are detected.
When GPS fails, the app can estimate a position from the cell towers or Wi-Fi access points the device reports. These positions are approximate. The map draws them as a circle around the point, and the Fix source column of the Messages screen says where each position came from.
Check
Fix
The app turns positions into addresses through a geocoding service. The unit card shows the coordinates for a moment until the address is found; the history card says "Finding the address…". In the Trips tab, places show the country name until a street address is found.
Check
Fix
With Allow Address Resolution on, any point inside a geofence gets the geofence's name as its address, followed by its description in brackets. Where geofences overlap, the smallest one names the point. Trips and reports use these names before they look up a street address.
Fix
See About geofences.
